Born in 1973 Mrs. Sinanlar Uslu, had her high school education at Galatasaray Lycee. She received her BA from Istanbul University, Department of Art History, and her MA from Boğaziçi University, Department of History. She completed her PhD at Istanbul Technical University with her thesis titled “Pera as an Artistic Medium Between 1844-1916”.

After working as a reporter in the Art and Culture departments of Yeniyüzyıl and Cumhuriyet newspapers, she taught art history and history at Galatasaray High School for over ten years. She has been a faculty member at Yıldız Technical University Art Department Art Management Program since 2009.

Her research domain contains mostly 19th century Ottoman cultural life, art and press. Among the courses she gives are “Cultural Policies”, “Art and Criticism” and “Design and Art”. She has also curated various exhibitions at Istanbul French Cultural Center, Naval Museum in Istanbul and Pera Museum. She is still carrying out academic researches on levantine, ottoman and other artists, as well as places where exhibitions were held.

S. Sinanlar Uslu will take part of the Visiting Professors Program designed by EHESS, on proposal of Frédéric Hitzel (CETOBaC) et Anna Caiozzo (Université d’Orléans) et Georges Sideris (Sorbonne Université)
